Last week, we were thrilled to reveal the first part of our exclusive documentary series Brian Fest: A Night to Celebrate the Life and Music of Brian Wilson featuring The Flaming Lips‘ whimsical cover of “Good Vibrations.” Today, we have the fitting conclusion to our behind-the-scenes video series, in partnership with Love & Mercy, with two once-in-a-lifetime live performances by Local Natives and, the man himself, Brian Wilson.
At the end of March (thanks to Best Fest), LA’s Fonda Theatre hosted a glowing tribute night to The Beach Boys mastermind with Wilson’s loved ones and colleagues including Best Coast, Norah Jones, and more, taking on Beach Boys numbers and solo Wilson hits. Beyond hitting the stage and belting out Wilson’s timeless classics, artists and friends sat with us backstage to discuss being part of such an awe-inspiring event.
In episode two—which you can watch below—Lucius, Al Jardine, and more talk about what it takes to put on a show in honor of Wilson, all while Local Natives perform a lively version of “I Get Around.” When Wilson appears to lead the entire cast in “Surfin’ U.S.A.,” you can feel the excitement and love in the venue.
