When I received a press release this morning announcing a new John Glacier EP, I muttered, “Hell yeah.” John Glacier rocks. Case in point? “Steady As I Am,” the first track from Glacier’s forthcoming EP Duppy Gun. The gauzy single is decidedly lo-fi, with Glacier half-rapping over a looped acoustic guitar line before a hypnotic drum groove kicks in to give the song serious Portishead-raised-at-Low-End-Theory vibes. “I’m sticking to the plan, not the game / Think I’m crazy, ’cus you’re all the same,” she sings. Hey, Glacier, I do not think you’re crazy!
