Nick Lowe. Always talk, talk, talking about the cool parties he’s invited to. I go to parties, too! I just don’t have the creative capabilities to capture this popularity in song form.

Apropos of nothing, Lowe and his band Los Straitjackets are back with his first album in 11 years, Indoor Safari. Set to be released on September 13, the album is preceded by first single “Went to a Party,” which you can listen to below, though it might make you jealous. It didn’t make me jealous. I’m just warning you. I go to tons of parties.

The upbeat track blends high-energy drums with a surf-rock guitar line and accompanying vamped chords, all highlighted by Lowe’s swooning words about the coolest party on Earth. At one point he says that he “went for it hearty,” but it sounds like he says something about wearing Ed Hardy. That might have been better, but it’s a good song nevertheless.

Check out “Went to a Party” below, and pre-order Indoor Safari here.
