After spending a few weeks on tour alongside Indigo De Souza, it made sense that Siri Undlin set out on a new string of headlining dates across the Midwest in order to support her latest collection of songs under the moniker Humbird, given that Right On is a record steeped in the region’s emotive folk tradition. Though the project is based in Minnesota, the album was recorded in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, as if to tap the same creative well frequented by the songwriter who’s put the city on the indie-rock map in recent years.

It was during this headlining tour that Undlin filmed a “Neighborhoods” session for us, set up outside a cabin “in Iowa…somewhere” (she later confirmed that it’s the town of Malcom in Poweshiek County, though the landscape backdrop of the video doesn’t do much to distinguish the location from the open fields that fill much of the state). Strumming through “Quickest Way” on electric guitar while her bandmates settle into their home for the night, it’s a soothing if not lightly haunting rendition breaking from the full-band sound she’d established on stage for the tour.
