Chewing, the project of Local Natives’ Nik Ewing, has returned with two new piano-focused singles, with “Melting Dream I” and a cover of The Beatles’ “She Loves You” set to be featured on his second solo LP Songs for Linnéa. The former is a beautifully paced piano contemplation, while the latter sounds like Philip Glass taking a solo whack at the classic tune from The Beatles.

Regarding the collection of piano compositions, Ewing said: “When my first child was born, I played piano for her almost daily. This album is for her, to have a document of the music from the beginning of her life. Who knows what music consumption will be like decades from now. Making a physical version of this album is so important, so she can hold and listen to this vinyl in 20 years. I’ve sung this Beatles song for her every night, before she was even born, to help calm her down when she was kicking inside my wife’s belly.”

To celebrate this album, Chewing’s live debut concert will take place as a one-off intimate Los Angeles performance to be announced soon. In the meantime, check out both tracks below, and pre-order physical editions of Songs for Linnéa ahead of the record’s September 13 release here.
