Having recently inked a deal with alt-Americana heavyweights New West Records, Amsterdam-based songwriter Jana Mila is gearing up to release her debut collection of songs titled Chameleon, which splits the difference between the current indie-country movement spearheaded by artists like Waxahatchee and the concurrent Laurel Canyon revival ushered in by Weyes Blood and similar-minded musicians. Yet Mila’s lyrics may be what most sets her apart from her American contemporaries, as the new album’s title accurately sums up the themes of struggling to blend in the Dutch artist covers across these 10 songs.

Having already released the record’s first two tracks, today we’re getting the third item on the album’s tracklist, the title track. Covering similar territory of acoustic-based rumination, “Chameleon” is yet another confirmation that she shouldn’t feel any sense of anxiety when it comes to fitting in with her aforementioned peers. “Sometimes we try so hard to blend in, adapting ourselves to people or circumstances, [that] we may end up losing ourselves,” Mila shares of the tune. She goes on to note that the subject matter is “a personal theme” for her, promising that “it runs throughout my forthcoming album.”

Check out “Chameleon” below, and pre-order the album of the same name here ahead of its arrival on August 30.
