After establishing himself with a series of EPs and a viral single in the form of 2022’s “Pick and Choose,” Nashville-based indie-folk songwriter Daniel Nunnelee is finally releasing his debut album, June, Again today. Not only does the new collection present a cohesive statement collecting all the most engaging elements of his prior discography, but it even includes a bit of that previously released material. The penultimate track is a reprise of “Pick and Choose” that’s padded out with a guest verse from fellow Nashville alt-country voice Katie Pruitt, who helps to reconfigure the song’s DNA with a sense of certainty.

“For me, the second version of ’Pick and Choose’ is a closure, or the other side of the story,” shares Nunnelee of the duet, which comes with a lightly surreal video directed by Joey Brodnax that stars both songwriters. “When you add the last chorus it becomes a breakup song, so with the video, we wanted to make sure that we communicated that, and leave it up to the viewer to realize there’s an end to the story. It’s not just a love song, there’s something that’s happened here and there’s a full range of emotions in this song.”
