Following a few appropriately inscrutable clues on Twitter, David Lynch and Mark Frost have now officially announced the impending return of their cult series Twin Peaks.

Details are still forthcoming, but Deadline Hollywood is reporting that the season will be nine episodes long, with each episode directed by Lynch himself. Production is set to start next year for a projected airdate of 2016 on Showtime. Deep breaths, everyone.
This will be the first major production for Lynch since 2006’s Inland Empire (though he has kept busy in the meantime by making music and giving the occasional weather report online).
