San Francisco’s French Cassettes kicked off their summer by releasing their short-but-sweet third studio album of harmony-based indie pop, Benzene, which struck an impressive balance between intimacy and exhibitionism. Since then they’ve kept busy by touring the Pacific and Mountain time zones—a journey which they’ll be picking up again next week after a brief respite with a series of dates working their way down the coast until ultimately wrapping up the excursion back home on August 10 with an appearance at Outside Lands.  

Taking a break from their full-band setup, French Cassettes’ vocalist/guitarist Scott Huerta recently reworked the album cut “Fast Held Hand” as a solo acoustic number for our “Neighborhoods” performance series. Set up in a rustic backyard in the Richmond District neighborhood of San Francisco, check out Huerta’s stripped-back version of the track below.
