LA-based songwriter and fish cake chef Marina Allen recently unleashed her third album Eight Pointed Star, a soft-rock opus detailing the musician’s inner life as she self-reflects on the post-pandemic era of self-reflection. Yet while the album’s title refers to the at-home busywork of cross-stitching, the record’s release gave her an excuse to hit the road for a series of live dates spanning North America playing alongside Real Estate and Ben Howard.

While Allen was in New York, she posted up on the corner of Troutman and St. Nicholas in Bushwick to perform a two-song “Neighborhoods” set, filmed by videographer I Know We Should. Playing through the Eight Pointed Star cuts “I’m the Same” and “Bad Eye Opal,” Allen shares the spotlight with wall-to-wall murals created by the Bushwick Collective. Check it out below.
