Soccer Mommy, the alt-rock project of Sophie Allison, has returned with “M,” which is the first single from her just-announced new album Evergreen. The follow-up to 2022’s Sometimes, Forever will arrive via Loma Vista on October 25. The somber, mournful leading track is animated by layers of guitar and a drum groove textured with brush work as Allison sings: “I feel you / Even though you’re gone / And I don’t mind talking to empty halls.”
Evergreen was made by Soccer Mommy in Atlanta’s Maze Studios with producer Ben H. Allen III, who’s previously worked with Deerhunter, Animal Collective, and Youth Lagoon. Check out the video for “M” directed by Anna Pollack below, and pre-order Evergreen here.
