Bootsy Collins is synonymous with funk. There‘s no way around it. Whatever he drops, whenever he drops it, is gonna be funky as all hell. His forthcoming LP, Album of the Year #1 Funkateer, to be released on October 25, is certain to once again affirm this fact. As such, color us unsurprised that his new track, “Pure Perfection,” is an ass-shaker of the highest order, a raunchy, slow and seductive jam melting in half-time thanks to Bootsy’s thizz face–inducing bassline and—pardon me—horned-up lyrics. The track features German rapper Fantaazma and fellow emcee Giz, and formally features “Bedroom Bootsy,” one of Collins’ legendary alter-egos.
Regarding the track, the Funkadelic icon explained: “‘Pure perfection’ is the light that you bring into this world, that light that stays lit, producing every boy and every girl. ‘Pure Perfection’ is the sunset, and the sound of the sea, it’s all the watchmen that look after you and me. ‘Pure Perfection’ is this day as it turns into the night. Teaching all citizens of the universe to funk, not fight.”
