“I’m just having a bad…life,” Jemaine Clement tells The Daily Show‘s Jessica Williams in the trailer for People Places Things. “It’s okay, it’ll be over soon.”

People Places Things finds Clement playing the role of a recently divorced teacher and father of two attempting to get back on his feet. It’s a mixture of the deadpan humor Clement perfected with Bret McKenzie in Flights of the Conchords with a sense of every-life melancholy that would make Noah Baumbach proud. Check out the trailer below.

People Places Things is out on August 24.
