Earlier this summer, Kansas City’s The Greeting Committee returned with a new album called Everyone’s Gone and I Know I’m the Cause which re-introduced the outfit as a duo after a series of lineup changes. The record marked 10 years of the band’s existence, with founding members Addie Sartino and Pierce Turcotte slated to celebrate that milestone this Saturday with a hometown show at The Midland Theater with special guests Beach Bunny, Boyish, and Miloe.

In the meantime, the duo recently returned from New York City where they momentarily put their work on pause to perform a “Neighborhoods” set of the Everyone’s Gone track “How It Goes” on an East Village rooftop. Bookended by supplementary establishing shots of the city’s familiar sites (including a few additional mini-performances courtesy of subway buskers), the set sees Sartino and Turcotte joined by additional guitarist Noah Spencer. “We were in the city to work on writing more music,” they explain before dissecting the song’s meaning. “‘How It Goes’ is an eye roll towards the less flattering parts of yourself you can’t seem to escape.”
