Hippo Campus Flood

Here’s a tip for all you bands out there: If you’re as good as Hippo Campus (or even almost, or even half as good as Hippo Campus) and you name your album Flood, we will almost certainly cover you on this website. The brand synergy is too strong. Ahead of Flood (not all caps, but that’s fine), out September 20 via Psychic Hotline, the St. Paul–based band has shared “Forget It,” which begins with a straight-ahead drum groove and strummed acoustic guitars. Vocalist Jake Luppen enters the fray when strings begin to ratchet up the tension: “Yes the party’s almost over, always hated counting sheep,” he sings.

According to the band, the single aims to ask such questions as: “Do you remember falling in love? Who spoke first? What were you wearing? Does it play in your head like a movie, or was it all over in a single moment? However it was that your love story unfolded, and however you remember it, it’s meaningful...even if you forget the whole thing someday.”
