St. Vincent took a detour from her All Born Screaming tour to sing the national anthem at the Los Angeles Sparks game at Crytpo Arena last week, but was back at it on Friday night, headlining the iconic Greek Theatre nestled in Griffith Park in the Hollywood Hills. With a setlist featuring most of the new album, Annie Clark and her band ripped through 20 tracks, reaching peak energy while screaming the lyrics of “Broken Man” and crowd-surfing during “Krokodil.”
Before launching into her revered 2017 single “New York” toward the end of her set, she acknowledged her current hometown: “I have to say I wrote the next song before I’d fallen as deeply in love with Los Angeles as I have. Feel free to substitute your own LA landmarks in place of lyrical references to 8th Avenue and Astor Place.”
