As previously confirmed, Stephen Malkmus of Pavement and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks and Stephen Malkmus (among others), Emmett Kelly of The Cairo Gang (among others), Matt Sweeney of Chavez (among others), and Jim White of Dirty Three (among others) recently united for a new group called The Hard Quartet. Now, that group is sharing music in the form of “Rio’s Song,” the first single from the supergroup’s forthcoming self-titled record, out October 4 via Matador.

The song is a delightfully bluesy tune chock full o’ classic rock drum fills and harmonies that are ragged but still pretty. Within the vast expanse of supergroups, this is probably gonna be one of the better ones. Hell yeah.
