Gryffin kicked off the month in a big way, with the electronic music producer dropping his third full-length PULSE two days into August. On the same day, he took the stage at the Veld Music Festival—an annual gathering of exciting EDM artists in Toronto—before heading to Montreal the very next day to perform at the city’s Osheaga Festival. Less than a week after that, he was Stateside again where he appeared at San Francisco’s Outside Lands

Now that things have slowed down a bit for the DJ and producer, he’s taking a moment to reflect on the blur of a journey that was his brief stint in the Bay Area, where he was able to reconnect with family (including his dog Gigi) before hopping on stage for a guest-filled performance—and later running it back with a surprise appearance at a Boiler Room–esque popup show elsewhere in the city.

Although we couldn’t be there in person, a backstage photo diary is the next best thing. Check out Gryffin’s recap of the day in words and photos below.

On the way to Outside Lands! So good to be back in the Bay—spent the morning hanging out and catching up with my family, got lunch at one of our favorite spots, then headed over to the fest.

Pre-show hangs with my wife Steph and my dog Gigi!

The fam! Always a blast to do shows in SF and have them out.

Good luck kiss to the Geeg before walking to stage. Back when I was first touring, she used to ride on the bus with us everywhere. She’s getting older now, so this is her first show this year, but she still loves seeing the team and hanging in the green room.

Had to bring some special guests for the hometown show! Here’s Zohara throwing down some live vocals for our latest collab, “WHERE ARE YOU TONIGHT.”

MAX also joined for “MAGNET.”

Had a blast working in some new tracks along with the fan favorites for this set.

Production team went off. Probably the most pyro I’ve ever had at a show.

Brought out the piano and slowed things down for “Heading Home.”

Probably one of my favorite things about Outside Lands is how many genres it covers. Checked out some other acts the next day—this is right after Sabrina Carpenter.

Later that night, we held a 500-person surprise popup set in SF. This was my first time doing the Boiler Room style 360 set and it was insanity. Such a blast to be up close and feel everyone’s energy.
