Brian Dunne, Anthony D’Amato, Don DiLego, and Mike Montali initially came together as Fantastic Cat a few years back to release a collection of songs titled The Very Best of Fantastic Cat—an album title riffing on their lack of prior material, written collaboratively by the four singer-songwriters who are each listed as “lead vocalist” in their press materials. Naturally, their sophomore album released earlier this summer took a similar approach: Now That’s What I Call Fantastic Cat continues their supergroup-esque folk-rock experiments with 11 new tracks reflecting the band members’ balance of playful antics and strong songwriter abilities.
Ahead of their upcoming international dates scheduled for October in Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands, all four members came together to perform a stripped-back version of the album track “Later On” for our “Neighborhoods” video series. With a setup of three acoustic guitars and a shaker, and Dunne and Montali trading off on lead vocals, the quartet brings the track to The Velvet Elk in Pocono Lake, Pennsylvania before vanishing in a fashion that might warrant investigation by two feds with nearly unbearable sexual tension. Check it out below.
