Mysterious (see: masked) producer Pale Jay has returned with a new single, “Spend More Time with Your Friends.” Jay doesn’t mask his thesis in metaphors or aphorisms on the new track—with his voice wrapped in falsetto, he croons: “Spend more time with your friends / Don’t be shy say you love them.” While the lyrics are delightful, Jay’s ’70s soul production steals the show, as a string suite lifts this song to the heavens and a drum groove with hand percussion accents the lovely vibes that abound.
“‘Spend More Time with Your Friends’ is an ode to two very dear friends of mine,” the producer shares. “In the hustle and bustle of our every day lives we often forget to tell and show our friends that we love them. And there’s no better way to do that than give them one of the most precious things we have: our time.”
The track is the last lil’ nugget to be unveiled from Jay’s Low End Love Songs, which is out tomorrow via Colemine Records. Check out the visualizer for the track below, and pre-order the new record here.
