Bumbershoot returned to the Seattle Center this past weekend, with a relatively low-key crowd in attendance when compared to the summer’s Chappell-dominated festival scene. Getting to see icons like Kim Gordon, Pavement, Freddie Gibbs, and Cypress Hill play in an intimate space on smaller stages was truly a rarity, while the weekend also provided additional treats such as a surprise appearance by Kurt Vile onstage during Courtney Barnett’s set, in which the Australian songwriter additionally performed a cover of fellow festival attendees Chastity Belt’s song “Different Now.”
All weekend, FLOOD photographer and Seattleite Eleanor Petry—who happened to be celebrating her 30th birthday on the festival grounds where she also happened to perform in the Nutcracker as a kid—was on site to capture live shots and portraits of the festival’s most exciting performers. Check out her shots of the aforementioned icons—as well as CHVRCHES’s Lauren Mayberry, Lee Fields, Moor Mother, Automatic, George Clanton, and more—below.
