Launched in 2010, Hopscotch Festival takes over downtown Raleigh annually, with two main stages in City Plaza and Moore Square hosting artists throughout the weekend, continuing into the wee hours at venues across town. This year’s lineup boasted all female headliners, with St. Vincent, Faye Webster, and Waxahatchee drawing enthusiastic crowds.
Other highlights included MJ Lenderman celebrating the release day of Manning Fireworks (which he played in its entirety), Wednesday’s final US performance until their next album, and ’90s alt-rockers The Jesus Lizard and Guided by Voices reminding everyone they still have plenty left in the tank. The festival also continued its history of spotlighting the ever-growing musical talents of North Carolina, with the club shows especially providing a great opportunity to catch many emerging (and some legendary) local artists.
FLOOD photographer Josh Darr took it all in throughout the three days of festivities, from main stage headliners to after-hours shows at Slims, Pour House, Neptunes, and beyond. Check out their highlights below.
