Screamland

At the end of July, Father John Misty (or “Daddy JM” around these parts) released a greatest hits collection entitled Greatish Hits: I Followed My Dreams and My Dreams Said to Crawl. That collection featured a previously unreleased song, “I Guess Time Just Makes Fools of Us All,” an eight-and-a-half minute banger in classic Misty style. Now it’s been revealed that that song will be included on a new Father John Misty album, Mahashmashana, which is set to arrive on November 22 via Sub Pop.

The first (well, second) taste of the album is “Screamland,” which is relatively tame at almost seven minutes in length. The quietly gorgeous video is a perfect accompaniment to the epic track, which sounds a bit like M83 and Ethel Cain covering a Bon Iver tribute band led by Misty himself. Got it?

Check out “Screamland” below (which was evidently texted to fans yesterday, combined with the additional album track “She Cleans Up”), and pre-order Mahashmashana here.
