LA-based alt-folk artist Annahstasia Enuke has announced that her new EP, Surface Tension, is set to arrive on November 1 via drink sum wtr. To celebrate said news, she’s dropped a video for the project’s first single, “Stress Test.” And I’ll tell ya what, despite the title, I feel decidedly less stressed after giving this tune a spin or five. Delicately picked guitar notes quickly give way to powerful piano chords and the unbound energy of Annahstasia’s voice, which moves effortlessly up and down a number of registers, looking like my lie detector test when my wife asks if I ate all the leftover bolognese! Am I right?
“The Universe tests you to see if you break. To see if you’ve learned your lessons,” shared the artist regarding the new track. “This song is about the games we play with each other in the process both consciously and unconsciously. The residual of every heartbreak and trauma becomes a part of you from the moment it happens, going forward. So you can’t change that, but you have all this new information. What will you do with it?”
