Congrats to the Austin Community College District! The ACC—which supports nearly 100,000 students across multiple campuses in Central Texas—was selected out of nearly 150 community college systems that entered the first-ever nationwide Community College Concert Competition to win a free concert by creating and implementing nonpartisan voter engagement plans.

Fresh off the release of her debut album, That Ain’t No Man That’s the Devil, songwriter Jessie Murph will headline the event on October 24 at ACL Live at Moody in Austin, Texas. With a striking voice rooted in country music and delivered with a soulful Amy Winehouse–inspired range, the 20-year-old rising star has already scored hit songs with Jelly Roll and Teddy Swims, and performed at this year’s VMAs. Now, Austin will get to witness her powerhouse vocal stylings firsthand. “I’m so excited to join the Community College Concert Competition and support such an important cause,” Murph revealed. “Can’t wait to see everyone at the show!”

Community college students account for nearly one-third of postsecondary students in the US. Although there have been recent gains, in the last presidential election the national voting rate for community college students was nearly 10 percentage points lower than four-year universities. This program was created to help close that gap. “Voting is one of the most powerful ways to make your voice heard and help shape the future of the community,” says ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. “ACC is committed to providing nonpartisan resources to support the community in participating in decisions that impact our lives. Every voice matters. It is an honor to be selected as the winner of this concert. It celebrates the spirit of bringing together voices to create something remarkable.”

Hosted by Levi’s and SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios, FLOOD is a proud sponsor of the event along with the Students Learn Students Vote (SLSV) Coalition, the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, and Good Trouble Collaborative.

The event is open to the public and free with RSVP, with priority to ACC students and faculty. Click the button below to reserve your tickets.

Venue capacity may be limited and entry is first-come, first-served. Invitation is non-transferable, not for resale, and cannot be redeemed for cash or credit. The ACC Vote Early Concert is a nonpartisan event.
