Michael Kiwanuka has shared a new single, “Rebel Soul,” which is set to appear on his forthcoming album Small Changes. The track floats along thanks to a calming piano melody and drums that sound like they were unearthed from a bygone era. Kiwanuka sings: “Too scared to show / All of your rebel soul / But I won’t mind / No, I won’t mind.”
Regarding the project, Kiwanuka shared that he and producer Brian Burton (a.k.a. Danger Mouse) “were trying to shoot for something that might have made it onto a Bill Withers album or a Sadé album.”
