New York–based rapper G. King and the 100Fold collective have returned with new single “Backlash ’06,” which features production from fellow 100Fold co-conspirator, paper gem. On the cut, King spits over stark piano chords and a dusty melody flipped with precision from gem. “I ain’t stressing about nothing that ain’t ours,” he raps. “Dear Lord, still protect me from the evil incarnate / With this flesh I’mma feed off the tarnish.”

“This is a recollection of periods in my life where even though my next steps were ambiguous, I decided to push myself forward,” King shares. “It’s a personal reminder to take a step back occasionally to appreciate how far I’ve come from where I started, because it’s easy to lose sight in the moment. The change in the production throughout the song traces a transition in thinking, just like circumstances and situations change us as we move forward in life.”
