Sunny War has announced that her new album Armageddon in a Summer Dress is set to arrive on February 21 via New West Records. To celebrate news of the 11-song LP produced by Andrija Tokic, she’s also shared the lead single “Walking Contradiction,” which features Steve Ignorant of anarcho-punks Crass. The funky, soulful cut is animated by screeching organs and drums that crack like fireworks. Sunny War finds herself particularly unamused by the perils of capitalism as she sings: “All the food we buy grows in the dirt / But we can’t grow our own ‘cus we gotta go to work / And the rent is due every 30 days / And you won’t have nothing once the bills are paid.”

“He’s my hero for life,” Sunny War shares of her collaborator on the track. “When I started listening to Crass, it changed everything about how I thought about everything.” Added Ignorant, “It’s always an honor to collaborate with someone you respect and Sunny War is no exception. She is the younger voice, taking up the torch of hope in this dark world. The minute I heard the song I knew it would work and recording it was an incredibly emotional experience. The lyrics are now in my head for good—which is not a bad thing, and who knows—maybe one day we’ll get the chance to perform it together live.”
