Zach Condon’s Beirut project has returned with “Caspian Tiger,” the first new song since he’s released since dropping Hadsel last year. The single is a lovely piano-led ballad that begins patiently before soaring thanks to layers of harmonies and chamber-pop instrumental arrangements. Condon sings: “Kept outside these city walls / The tiger sang to me / From the wreckage of eternity / To his Caspian Sea.”

To coincide with the new single, Beirut has also announced a run of overseas tour dates, his first in six years (he discussed this subject with me extensively in our interview about Hadsel). The run of five May dates spans the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK, where Condon will be performing songs from throughout his discography backed by a full band.

Rumor has it that more news is on the way soon, but for now you can check out the video for “Caspian Tiger” below.
