Brittany Howard has announced a new hardcore band called Kumite, which will make its live debut at a Nashville show that she’s curating alongside Snõõper, Inner Peace, and Second Spirit. The show is set for January 12 at Basement East with proceeds benefitting Second Harvest Food Bank, local housing initiative Launch Pad, and the racial justice org Southern Movement Committee. The Alabama Shakes band leader turned solo superstar will add this new group to her running tally of side projects, which also includes Thunderbitch and Bermuda Triangle.
