It’s been five years since Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg collaborated on 2010’s The Pacific, and now the longtime actor-director duo are being joined by Joel and Ethan Coen for the Cold War-era spy thriller Bridge of Spies. The film stars Hanks as an insurance lawyer called in to represent an accused spy, and, presumably having impressed the right people, he later travels to East Berlin to negotiate with the Russians. In between, there are U2 (not that U2) bombers, bleak Eastern European street scenes, grimy metros, and Hanks’ character’s wife (played by Amy Ryan) leading their family in prayer. Bridge of Spies is out October 16.
