Last fall, Brooklyn alt-R&B duo Bathe returned with the first new material in three years with their EP Inside Voice(s): Side A, which we can safely assume is the first half of a multi-part release. “[It’s] for all the overthinkers,” Devin Hobdy and Corey Smith-West explained upon the EP’s release. “Anyone who knows what it’s like to be lost in a daydream, wrestle with a loud inner monologue, or hear the whispers of the people you love from the depths of your mind.”

With no sign of a “Side B” quite yet, the duo is returning today with a live Neighborhoods performance of the Side A cut “Avalon” filmed on a stoop in their native Brooklyn. With Smith-West backing up Hobdy’s soulful vocals with guitar, the performance lives up to the sense of escapism on display in the song’s lyrics. “This track is all about breaking free from the grind of everyday life—imagining a place where we can just escape, even if just for a moment,” Bathe share. Check out their performance below.
