An Emmy statue awaits placement as preparations are underway for the 64th annual Emmy Awards, outside the Nokia Theatre at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles, California September 19, 2012. The Emmy, a statuette of a winged woman holding an atom, will be awarded for excellence in television at the Emmy Awards on September 23, 2012. And just like that, we’re back into the swing of awards season. This morning, the full list of nominations for the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards—which recognize excellence in the field of Television—were announced and the field is wide open. Earlier this year, the three organizations that are responsible for you screaming at your screen because Empire wasn’t nominated for Best Drama (the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences , the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences) dropped a couple of bombshell changes to the rules of the Emmys game. Now we’re seeing the first effects of those new category/eligibility changes.

HBO is still at the top of the heap with twenty-four nominations for Game of Thrones alone (not to mention multiple nods for Veep, Silicon Valley, The Newsroom, Olive Kitteridge, The Comeback, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver). AMC and Netflix are also major network contenders with tentpole programs like Mad Men and Orange Is the New Black among others both receiving high praise.

The Emmys will air on September 20 on Fox with Andy Samberg hosting. Full nominees list below.
