Finn Wolfhard, who you may know from his acting work on Stranger Things or his prior musical career with Calpurnia and The Aubreys, has announced that his debut solo album Happy Birthday will be released on June 6 via AWAL. First single “Choose the Latter” is a playful pop-rock jangle jam built around tingly guitars and perfectly freewheeling drums. You better believe there’s a well-placed tambourine featured in the chorus.
“Music for me has always been something that I can control,” Wolfhard reflected on the process of creating Happy Birthday. “And while I’m really grateful for acting and for a long time, it really provided me that peace, it’s just a different thing now that I’m an adult and that it’s a career. I still enjoy it a lot, but when I am by myself and get to play guitar and write a song, it’s a different kind of feeling I’m after.”
