Billy Corgan has announced that he’ll be reimagining Smashing PumpkinsMellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness ahead of its 30th anniversary later this year. In classic Corgan fashion, though, the announcement comes with a twist: He’ll be showcasing the seminal album as an opera. Dubbed “A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness,” the performances will take place at the Lyric Opera in Chicago for seven nights beginning on November 21. Tickets to the event go on sale beginning April 11.

“It is thrilling to collaborate with Lyric head John Mangum, my musical partner James Lowe, and all of the artists at Lyric in reimagining this very special and historic album,” Corgan said in a statement, “and to discover how Lyric’s full operatic treatment is helping me experience my own compositions in powerful new ways.”
