There’s no word on a follow-up to 2021’s Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, yet MARINA has been plenty active lately between the upcoming 10-year anniversary reissue of her final synthpop LP as Marina and the Diamonds, FROOT, and appearances set for seemingly every major US festival taking place over the spring and summer, including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Osheaga, Governors Ball, and DC’s WorldPride. Most exciting among all of this, though, was her return to the studio for last month’s standalone single “Butterfly,” which was toted as the beginning of a new chapter for the modern pop icon.
That chapter continues to unfold today with another new track called “Cupid’s Girl,” a more relentlessly dance-y cut foregoing the chamber-pop flourishes for an upbeat electronic-pop sound. Check out the visualizer for the new track below, and keep your ear to the ground for more from MARINA soon.
