Brooklyn’s Market Hotel is a venue like no other: a gritty, intimate space where the stage is framed by massive windows and the subway trains thunder past right behind the stage, flashing their headlights through the glass as if part of the light show. Last night, the dedicated fans who packed themselves into the 450-capacity room didn’t mind the rainy weather. They were here for something special: a chance to see Wet Leg up close, road-testing new songs from their just-announced second album Moisturizer in a series of small club shows.
The 12-song set list balanced their biggest hits with fresh, unreleased material. They kicked things off with “Catch These Fists,” immediately setting a high-energy tone. The crowd roared for “Wet Dream” and “Chaise Longue,” two tracks that solidified Wet Leg as one of the UK’s most exciting breakout bands. But the real buzz was around the new songs—from the brooding “Dave Nah” to the playfully chaotic “Dragonfart,” the fresh material showed the band pushing their sound in new directions.
At their previous shows, Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers appeared to be weaving a musical conversation—two distinct voices intertwined, each bringing a different energy to the performance. But now, Teasdale has stepped more into the foreground, taking on a larger share of the vocals while Chambers’ presence feels more subtle, adding texture and depth to the sound. The shift doesn’t feel like a departure but rather an evolution, one that hints at where Wet Leg might be headed next.
The subway rumbled by as the band launched into “C3PR,” a blistering set closer that left the room vibrating. The energy was electric—so much so that for a moment, it felt like the crowd might shake the Market Hotel harder than the passing trains. With this short tour of intimate venues like Market Hotel, London’s MOTH Club, and Brighton’s Green Door Store, Wet Leg is clearly fine-tuning what’s next.
