Laufey has returned with the single “Silver Lining,” which follows her 2023 GRAMMY-winning album Bewitched and her recent concert film with the LA Phil. On the track, the songwriter cooks up an old-school, soul-inspired ballad featuring crunchy guitars and gently lilting drums. She sings: “We’ve been kissing on the playground / Acting like little kids / Making dirty jokes / And getting away with it.”
Of the song, Laufey said: “‘Silver Lining’ is a love song about being able to set your true personality free when you fall in love. Your inner child comes out and you are emboldened by lust. Even if it takes you to hell, at least you’re with your partner.”
Directed by Jason Lester, the music video includes Rite of Spring–inspired choreography and was shot on 35mm, for all you film heads out there. Check out the visual below.
