It looks to be quite a year ahead for Australian indie-pop outfit Parcels. The band has been teasing a new album (most recently offering us a taste last month with the glittering single “Safeandsound”), and will be hitting the road later this year for a North American arena and theater tour, including stops at iconic venues like Red Rocks outside of Denver, Forest Hills Stadium in New York, and Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
But 2025 kicked into overdrive for the five-piece this month, with captivating late-evening sets at both weekends of Coachella on the Outdoor Stage. The band took us behind the scenes of their experience at the fest for this special edition of “Backstage Camera Roll.” Check out their personal captions with photos by Luca Young below, and find out when they’ll be hitting your town here.

Beginning the walk to stage for our second Coachella set through the backstage birthday celebrations that were strung up for one of Tyla’s crew. They really knew how to party.

40 degrees [104 Fahrenheit] and desperate to escape the desert. We still pulled over on our way back to LA to film an acoustic version of an unreleased song.

Waiting in the carpark of Coachella for our accreditation. We had thoroughly lost our minds at this point from touring and the many long drives. But the sun was setting over the mountains, the light was magical, and there was some last excitement bubbling.

The iconic Coachella dressing room aesthetics remain.

The last 15 minutes before show time. Stage clothes coming on, fingers and voices being warmed up, and the energy and excitement culminating in many ridiculously yelled cover versions of songs like “I Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty or “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd.

Toto has returned to jelling his hair back, like he did when he was 18. There’s a familiarity to his current look that brings a lot of comfort to the group, I feel.

Hard to say what this is. This could be a version of the performative, drunken renditions of classics, or it could be Patrick taking a sip of the ginger and turmeric immunity booster shots we have on the rider. They pack a punch sometimes.

Patrick, his Loewe jacket, and last show of the tour energy.

This is the look Louie gives when he’s exhausted yet excited. He’s not the most openly emotional person, but if you know him well, it’s all in the eyes he gives you.

This is highly likely one last toilet break before stage time. Five minutes before, it’s a mad rush for everyone—mostly Noah, Pat ,and Jules—to pee. There’s nothing worse than feeling the need onstage.

Us and our practice amps again in the desert. We were hot, tired, and hungover, but quietly happy with the acoustic arrangements we made in the van ride. Our last thing before leaving the desert for another year.

Coachella gates and security checks. It feels like the whole festival is one big security check—constantly validating your wristband and getting shepherded into different gated areas. But once you’re in, you’re able to witness some of the best, most highly constructed performances in the world.
