Just over a year removed from the release of bob junior’s collaborative debut full-length friends, vol. 1, the artist is gearing up to share that project’s second installment next month. After finally connecting with the elusive indie-pop outfit The Walters last fall for one of the project’s early singles, the record was formally announced earlier this year with another new track featuring Jordana—leaving the album’s intriguing features from Dent May, Hot Flash Heat Wave, Alex Lahey, crêpe girl, and more to be heard when the full project drops on May 23 via 777 Music.

But today we’re getting another preview of the collection via Esteban Muñoz’s co-write with the pandemic-spawned, genre-defying music collective led by Raphael George, Kidsnot$aints. “eu te amo bebê” is a sauntering samba-pop track that often feels so genuine that you might not believe George when he insists that he doesn’t speak Portuguese. “Raph and I met up at my spot, and it was literally the first chords we played that laid the [foundation] for the track,” Muñoz recalls. “Raph started to sing ‘I don’t speak Portuguese,’ and I was sold faster than a Japanese train. The best part is that after, like, six months I found out that he thought I was Portuguese! So maybe we wrote a love song from him to me? Anyway, I took the song with me to my studio in Bergen, where my little brother [boy pablo] laid down the drums and piano, I added some percussion and oohs, and the song was kinda done. Simple and fun production.”
