Sudan Archives has announced that her third album, The BPM, will be released October 17 via Stones Throw. The double single “My Type” and “Yea Yea Yea” is out now, following on the release of “Dead” earlier this year. The former new track is a groovy, dancefloor-ready cut built around bubbling bass, sixteenth note hi hats, and an assuredly precise flow (Sudan Archives describes the song as her first “rap rap song”). “Yea Yea Yea” is equally charming, but plays with tumbling drums and spooky space synths that sound a bit like a Flying Lotus production circa 2014.

On The BPM, Archives also introduces a new persona, Gadget Girl, a technologically advanced musician. “I was never the girl in a band in high school—I could only express myself for the first time when I got my first iPad and started making beats on it, and when I got my first electric violin,” she explained. “I’m all gadget girled out now, but I’ve never felt so free as a human.”
