Dev Hynes has announced a new Blood Orange album, Essex Honey. The songwriter’s first project under the moniker in six years will arrive on August 29 via RCA Records. “Mind Loaded” and “Somewhere in Between” are both out now, following last month’s collaborative single “The Field” with Caroline Polachek, The Durutti Column, Daniel Caesar, Tariq Al-Sabir, and Eva Tolkin.

“Mind Loaded” is also loaded with guests: Polachek returns, along with Lorde, and Mustafa. The track is a choral-inspired pop odyssey that features the vocalists performing in a delightful round. “Somewhere in Between” is more old school Blood Orange, a real throwback disco-pop cut that takes some cues from ’70s-era Stevie Wonder. Not a bad place to look to for influence!

Additional artists featured on the LP include Turnstile’s Brendan Yates, Wet’s Kelly Zutrau, Ian Isiah, Tirzah, Liam Benzvi, author Zadie Smith, and actors Naomi Scott and Amandla Stenberg. Check out both tracks below, and pre-order Essex Honey here.
