María Zardoya, who leads a band named after her, The Marías, has announced that she’ll be releasing new solo music under a new name: Not for Radio. The singer took to the band’s Instagram page yesterday and shared two photos. The first of which features her in a white T-shirt that reads: “I MADE A SOLO PROJECT.” The second says: “NOT FOR RADIO.” Zardoya captioned the post: “i made a solo project @notforradio.”
She continued, “don’t worry, the band will be here forever. i love making music as the marías, and nothing will ever change that. but i wanted to challenge myself to make a project that resonated with me in a different way. there are layers to who we all are as individuals, and this is another layer of me, another flower in the garden. welcome to my alternate reality.”
Zardoya also shared a clip on the official Not for Radio page, featuring the caption: “a seed has been planted.” She speaks over a video collage, saying, “Hi, it's María. Welcome to Not for Radio. My alternate reality. The seed has been planted and now it’s time to watch it grow. I keep asking myself the question, ‘Is love worth the pain?’”
