WATCH: Joanna Newsom Shares “Sapokanikan,” Announces New LP “Divers”

New album out October 23 on Drag City.

It’s been five and a half years since Joanna Newsom released the behemoth 3-LP collection Have One on Me, her last collection of new music. In the interim, she’s gotten married, been the subject of a fashion Tumblr, and narrated Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice. Now, she and Anderson have teamed up again on the video for “Sapokanikan,” the first single from her new album, Divers. The video follows the folk singer on a walk through New York, with a thematically resonant appearance by Greenwich Village’s Cafe Wha?, where Bob Dylan got his start.
