Portugal. The Man have announced that their new album Shish will be released on November 7 via KNIK, the band’s imprint on Thirty Tigers. Of the newly released singles “Tanana” and “Mush,” bandleader John Gourley said: “‘Mush’ is survival, connection, and ambition. Rural life with moments of danger and absurdity, like dirt bikes, smokers, gunfire, and video games. The repeated line ‘We can be family’ pushes against isolation, reaching for something solid. This is a repeating theme on the record—build a life, support your people, buy land, and grow something lasting. The message is simple: don’t give up, want more, and fight for it. Meanwhile, ‘Tanana’ voices a generational sadness, searching for fleeting meaning in a world on edge.”
The band’s upcoming “Denali” tour will kick off the day before Shish arrives with a sold-out show in their adopted hometown of Portland. Check out those dates here, pre-order Shish here, and stream the two new tracks below.
