WATCH: Here’s A Trailer For “21 Years,” A Documentary About Richard Linklater

A look into the unique, exceptional career of one of America's finest directors.

More than 23 years after starring in the opening scene of his indie-classic Slacker, Richard Linklater is back in front of the camera once again. This time around, however, it’s for a well-deserved documentary about his career so far, and how he’s managed to become one of the most prolific and acclaimed directors of his generation by the ripe old age of 54.

21 Years arrives amidst extensive Oscar buzz for the director’s coming-of-age epic Boyhood, but from the looks of the trailer, the documentary gives equal due to Linklater’s genre-spanning work and career-defining roles written for the likes of Matthew McConaughey and Ethan Hawke.

And don’t worry: all this hubbub hasn’t slowed him down. Linklater is already onto his next film That’s What I’m Talking About, which is supposedly the “spiritual sequel” to Dazed and Confused.

Watch the trailer for 21 Years below, which is out in select theaters and on iTunes November 7.
