Danger Mouse and The Roots frontman Black Thought have teamed up for a new single entitled “Up.” The track, which also features Rag’n’Bone Man, marks their first collaboration since 2022’s Cheat Codes. The song is built around powerful piano chords and a dusty drum groove that’s come to be a signature of sorts for Danger Mouse. Black Thought showcases some classically slick bars, spitting: “I am the bearer of a burden that is heavy as fuck / I’m pure legacy / Incredibly, I’ll never be touched / So ain’t nowhere to go from here but up.”
The song marks the first taste of a forthcoming LP from Danger Mouse and Black Thought, though details are still under wraps. For now, check out the video for “Up” below.
