It’s been a couple of years since Deerhunter released their last album, 2013’s Monomania. Now, the Atlanta group are back with Fading Frontier. They’ve shared a video for lead single “Snakeskin,” which you can see below.
According to a statement, Fading Frontier shifts away from the garaged-out paranoia of Monomania and finds the group placing more emphasis on melody and texture. The album was recorded with Ben H. Allen III, who has began working with Deerhunter on 2010’s Halcyon Digest. While the majority of the album was written by frontman Bradford Cox, guitarist Lockett Pundt, who also records under the name Lotus Plaza, contributed the song “Ad Astra.” James Cargill of Broadcast also contributed tape manipulations and synths to the track “Take Care.”
