Bob Mould, David Barbe, and Malcolm Travis have returned with their first new Sugar music in over 30 years. “House of Dead Memories,” which was recorded at the legendary Tiny Telephone studio in Oakland, is out now, and serves as the band’s first new material since dropping their B-sides collection Besides in 1995.

That’s only the tip of the sugar cube, though. The band will reunite in May for their first live gigs since January of 1995. They’ll perform at Webster Hall in New York on May 2 and 3, followed by a pair of shows at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on May 23 and 24. Additionally, Sugar’s 1992 debut album Copper Blue will be re-released into the world as Copper Blue – The Singles Collection, a four-LP box set to be released on November 28 for Record Store Day Black Friday.

“Sugar was a meteorite,” Mould shared in a press statement. “I spent all of 1991 writing and performing new material at solo shows. David and Malcolm had never met but I was certain we three would work well together. Sugar was a workhorse. After weeks of rehearsal in early 1992, we spent three months recording Copper Blue and Beaster. By summer 1992, the musical climate was perfect for what we created. Sugar was a phenomena. No one could have predicted the results. We held onto the wheel and did our best to enjoy the wild ride. Sugar was part of a pivotal era in popular music, and a special time in my life.”
