Courtney Barnett strongly advises that you adhere to traffic regulations on new her single “Stay in Your Lane,” which arrives a week before she’s set to appear on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The cheery pop cut cruises along with a bubbling bass groove and propulsive drum line, offering a nice backdrop for Barnett to instruct all future advice givers to stay in their own lane. Perhaps she’s not talking about safe driving after all.
The track serves as Barnett’s first original, non-soundtrack single in four years, following 2023’s instrumental LP End of the Day and a Chastity Belt cover released that same year. Check out the Alex Ross Perry–directed video for “Say in Your Lane“ below, and keep an eye out for more music from Barnett soon.
